Is Bullet Seating Pressure a big deal, if so how do you keep it consistant ? I ask this ton in cheek as I have done some testing on this , but was wondering if anyone else has experimented with it.

i beleave that with certain powders it may be more critical. such as H-4198 and other slower burning powders that need more pressure for proper ignition. IMO you should have a good pressure on all. if you are using the same load then mark your ram rod and you will have consistant pressure and know the bullet is on the powder. I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for.

I read this somewhere on the board about a year ago, it works for me. I run the bullet sabot combo down with the bolt open so air has more room to escape, and you also know there isn't a live primer in place. When it bottom out I give it all I have with both hands and hold for 5 seconds. If I leave the gun charged over night I make sure to repeat in the morning. Hope it helps 161

I use 5744 and it has never failed to fire. I always seat it firmly. I have marked on my rod for a complete powder/bullet seated - anything else and the gun isn't going hunting. I have two guns, just in case. I know most people don't think they would ever make a mistake, but making this part of your regular routine, takes any error out of it. I give it a good final seating. I would rather error on the side of too snug.
