This is strictly an 18 month observation on my part. Most everyone is aware that 40-45 grains of 4759 is one of the more accurate powders we all have shot, so accurate that there is very little discussion any more of it.
What I have discovered is this powder may and I say may be weather sensitive to extremes. In June I was in Texas hog hunting, 105 degrees. The gun came out of the case 6 inches high on two ml2's, reset them both and went hunting. Went to Saskatchewan, 25 degrees 5" high out of the case reset and went hunting. Two different hunts this late fall, From 5degrees to 20 degrees, the colder it got the higher the shot was. When the gun was left loaded overnight in 10 degree weather the shot went to over 8" high. This was all monitored with two different ml2's with the same outcome, this observation can and probally will be subject to alot of debate, maybe something else goes with the problem to trigger this. Most of you know I get to hunt alot around, and until I realized I had an issue, I was beating myself up on a missed booner earlier this year, I have proved this theory to myself again today. The gun is zeroed @100 yards and the outside temp today was -6 til noon. I loaded the gun, left it outside and waited a hour to go out to shoot it, 8" high was the result again, I don't have a answer to my problem yet, but it looks like N-120 comes back out of the safe. Like I said this is strickley my personal observation only.
