Some of the newer muzzleloaders I've looked at seem to have rifling simliar to centerfire barrles. When I look at my Knight MK85, (I've had it for 15 years or so) it has lands and grooves similar to my old T/C Hawkin but with a 1:28" twist compared to the Hawkin's 1:48" twist (I think).
Is the centerfire rifling more accurate shooting sabots than the older lands and grooves or is it a crapshoot and the newer rifling just easier to manufacture? Thanks.

The older deep groove slow twist rifling was meant for a patched round ball while modern muzzle loaders use a much shallower and faster twist rifling better suited for both sabots or conical bullets.
