Hey everyone. I'm a Savage user, but, I'm taking a 12 year old friend hunting for his first time. He has a Traditions in-line and I scoped it and had him sight it in. No problems, except the primer that I got him had several misfires. Brand new box of Remington Kleanbore 209 primers. Can he use my Federal primers that I use in my Savage? We are using Pyrodex pellets. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

They should certainly work, little bit of an over-kill to start Pyro with but it will certanly make it go boom... If there is not a problem with the Traditions firing mechanism...

Don't know about the primers you use, but if you can find CCI M 209 primers, and there's nothing wrong with the firing pin--I've used them to take 5 deer and my buddy took two with my .45 CVA using Pyrodex. Hunting with it in rain, sleet and snow and haven't had a misfire since I switched from the regular CCI to the magnums. Only had one misfire with the regular CCI and that was after hunting in the rain an entire day before shooting a doe during the last hour. Fortunately for me--not--the doe, she just looked around and then continued feeding. Had time to slip in another primer and drop her in her tracks. Have a great day! Dave

yes you can use your FED 209s. but i would shoot to make sure there is no POI change. i used them in my Savage when i shot T-7 and worked great.
