Not sure if you remember me from awhile back concerning using the Hornady SST 300 gr sabot in muzzleloaders. I'm still not shooting that heavy of a sabot but I am interested in the Hornady SST 300 gr sabot slug for shotguns. The ballistics look impressive on these for FPS and energy ft/lbs, as well as their flat trajectory.
But I couldn't find anything in the search archives of this forum. Since you're a SST 300 guy, do you know if they've been discussed somewhere else or not? Thanks.

I haven't personally tried the sst slugs yet, I've talked to a couple of guys who have shot them and they seem pretty satisfied. I shoot 200 and 250 sst's through my muzzleloaders and I feel they are excellent hunting bullets out of a black powder gun, alot of the smokeless ml shooters are shooting them as well but at much higher velocities, I think overall they are great bullets for hunting and on paper. I have shot the Winchester xp3 slugs ad they as well are 300gr and they performed very very well so I would assume the sst would as well. The hornadys are a bargain if they'll shoot, they're a good bit cheaper than the win and rem sabots with almost identical ballistics.

I use the Hornady SST 300 in my Savage 210 slug gun. It's the only high velocity sabot slug that shoots well. I get consistent 5/8" to 3/4" 100 yard groups with it. It's odd that it is the least expensive of the HV sabot slugs and out shoots them.Of course it cost me about $65 to learn that. That's why I use my muzzleloader for all gun seasons here in Ohio. Good Hunting!
