As many of you may know Michigan is summer home to a migrating population of Snow Birds. These retired folks leave in the fall and migrate to the Southwest, Gulf Shores, or Florida.
Two couples that I know get together for a weekly bridge game in the green months, but migrate to different areas in the winter. One spring after arriving back to Michigan they got together to start playing Bridge again. One of the fellows, Bill, was beginning to show some memory loss and would need to be coached as the game progressed. It was always guys against gals and no one really cared about the outcome anyway.
During a break in the game when the women were making snacks in the kitchen Fred asked Bill what had happened to his memory. He remarked that Bill was playing like he had the memory of a 30 year old. Bill answered back that he had attended a memory class that winter and was feeling pretty good about seeing such an improvement himself. Fred asked him the name of the course and how it worked. Bill replied that it used word association, for instance can you name that beautiful red flower that has the thorn and ladies like. To which Fred answered the rose. Bill agreed and called to the kitchen,"Hey, Rose. What was the name of the memory class?"

I understand snow birds. Was down in Cozumel MX last week and met some Canadians wintering there. Said they go down in October before the first snows in Montreal and don't return until they are sure the last snow in March is over. Found an apartment they could rent there for $300 a month. Heck, thats cheaper than the utility bills in Arkansas!

I almost spend more than that keeping a path to the barbecue open Shrimp skewers, roast peppers and venison round steak.
