Saskatchewan has come out of the dark ages . Starting this fall Sunday hunting will be permitted. It's good news. We're trying to get new hunters but most aren't interested. For them hunting was a once a week, Saturday, thing. Lots couldn't be bothered to go through the process of getting a firearms licence, buying a rifle, clothing etc. for a couple of saturdays in the field. Now with the extra day each week maybe more new hunters will get involved.

It may be slowing down all over. Unitl a few years ago opening day if deer season was a big deal. They dismissed school for that day, the woods was filled with hunters and huntng dogs were having races in progress all day long. Dogs are illegal now and for many that ended their interest. I guess that the dogs having the deer moving about provided more sightings and excitement. Personally, I have liked the creeping/crawling type hinting best but sitting and waiting on a calm deer is fine also. With dogs it was listening to the race with the sound of gunfire erupting as deer passed hunters. Many misses and some wounded deer. It seems to hold less and less interest for the folks here. It may be a dying sport. At least not the big event that it used to be here in the hills.
