Any tried the Hornady 300 gr 405 WIN (.411)? You guys have tried about everything. Midway has some bleams for less than $10 for 50. My barrel is loose and I have some of the of the new Crush rib .50 to .40 and the 200 sw is way to loose and won’t even fire. These are a pointed bullet and are interlocked so they should hold together and have a good BC. Any thoughts or load Ideas?

Give it a try and let the rest of us know how it works out. I have been thinking of resizing some of those for my 40.

With a loose barrel they may be just the ticket. Price sure is right

I hate to say this but I don't think the .411 bullet will work in a 50 caliber barrel short of using a custom, machined sabot. Even 200 grain bullets will "drill" the blue sabot at speed. Against the 300 grain bullet they don't have a chance. However I'm not trying to discourage you from trying. There may be a way that I haven't tried. In the end if you want to shoot 40 caliber bullets it's a whole lot easier in 45 or 40 caliber barrel.

That's what I am afraid of. I was hoping the Harvester Crush Rib might be a tougher sabot than the MMP but the BCR is so loose it didn't fire with the .40 bullet in my gun. It almost fell down the barrel.

If you get good results I would be real suprised. I could not even get good results with the .429 bullet in the 50 cal. Had to keep the speed low.

I had decent 1.3-2" groups with 44 gr N110 and 175 gr Knight .40 red hot. Didn't get a speed and only sho three groups. I might revisit this load also.
