Shooting this bullet out of my KRB7, at 70 Yrds. pushed by 120 Grns. of BH 209 I bagged a Doe. I found out for myself what Grouse and a few others told me. This bullet went through without any sign of mushrooming. The shot placement was perfact and did take out both lungs, but nothing blown apart inside. Very little blood and it went about 40 yards. I will shelve the FTX bullets, go back to shockwave untill I can shoot the Lehigh.

The FTX bullets need a lot of speed to work properly. I believe 2600fps recommended from Hornady. The Shockwaves will do just fine for you. Good luck the rest of the season.

Not sure why you find it important to "blow apart" the vitals...or have the bullet blow apart. Also, expansion, if you find it needed or desirable, will be impossible to determine precisely on flesh and hide. I have seen some big exit holes that I can assure you were not the diameter of the exiting bullet.
The explosiveness that some find desirable will not always ensure a flattened-on-the-spot deer...or a blood trail every time. That explosiveness could work against you as well by making shallow wounds, not penetrating on an angled shot and potentially having one hole instead of two for blood to leak out.
I am not a pro-proponent of these bullets.....have never touched or shot them. But it sounds like you, the gun and the bullet performed great. You hit the deer perfectly and it died quickly within sight or close to it. Had you caught bone on the way in or the way out you would have probably dropped the deer and by the time you were reloaded the deer would have stopped moving.
Additionally, 2600 fps is hard to come by with this bullet/caliber in it's designed use...leverguns. I would like to see where Hornady claimed that. Don't shelve it yet based on just 1 experience.....which was a good one IMO....nothing can be proved by one sample. Depending how one looks at things, one could say "so far so good"!

40 yards after a lung shot is very good i just shot one with my crossbow double lung shot he went 60 to 70 yards spraying blood all the way so it sounds like the bullet did its job and that is with a 1.5 cutting dia on the broad head if you want them to drop try hitting them above the shoulder and below the spine in the pocket a 22 mag will drop them there i have a lot of doe permits and been invited to my in laws family's farm where they get farm permits so i will be trying alot of bullets with my 50 and 45 cal savages cant wait for rifle and muzzle loader season as the 30-06 is missing this season kevin k
