i have a cva optima elite... i heard someone saying that the barrels which is bergara will come apart on some of them. i shoot 150 grains of pyrodex and a 295 grain bullet. more than likely this is not true... i do not think it is but i just wanted to see if anyone has heard of this... i wouldn't think that cva would do that. the guy that told me is usually a pretty straight forward kind of guy is the only reason i show any concern at all.

i have heard of this too and from what i remember is that it was with 3 pellets of T-7 which creates more pressure than pyro or BP. that is why when you read the lable on the T-7 it says to reduce max charge by 15%.. this has been a while ago, so if yours is newer things might have changed. i found this web sight. i make no assumptions and this is posted for information only. you can draw your own conclusions. i did not read all of the info in these posts as there is alot to read, but it is here for you to read and make YOUR OWN REASONING AND UNDERSTANDING of the info. there are many out there that havent had a problem and again we(IMO) dont know the EXACT circumstances and situation of incident. so you can make YOUR OWN judgement. cvaguncases.com/ and here is randy wakemans input. if you look at the 2 reviews. www.randywakeman.com/inline.htm

To make an informed decision you need to see more than one side of the issue. Here's a link to an opposing view. As whyohe said, read it for yourself and decide. www.bellmtcs.com/store/index.php?cid=561

In the past and with older CVA inlines that used Spanish Extruded Barrels - there has been a concern about their safety. I beleive if you follow the operating instructions provided by CVA you gun will serve you well. If you exceed these limits, which are more restrictive than most any other ML - you may/migh cause a safety problem. These barrels were limited to 150 grains of pellet powder and a 100 grains of loose powder and projectiles no greater than 300 grains.
If your Optima is a newer one and it truly has a Begara barrel - then these restrictive loads amounts do not apply. The Bergara is is by all accounts a quality barrel.

you werent told the entire story by your friend. Hes referring to the 1995 and 1996 recall cva rifles. Your optima elite uses a high quality barrel thats made from the same stock that they use on their centerfire barrels. My cva Accura uses the same barrel, they are shooters!
