I got a Taurus Tracker Titanium in 41Mag this year, to carry as a backpacking sidearm in grizz country. It weighs nothing. Well I carried it during deer season here in IN and when my buck did not go straight down (good hit though) I yanked the piece and let two fly as it ran off, probably 50-60 yards at a dead run on the first shot and 70-80 yards on the second (not shots I'd take if the deer was not already hit of course). Darn near hit the first, took hair off its back right over the front shoulder. Not close on the second....probably because, as I'd learned after the first shot, shooting a ported 4" revolver without hearing protection is NOT a good idea!
I love stillhunting in the woods with that light little gun...I just need to get a good pair of amplifying/cutoff electronic muffs first.

I use a Taurus Raging Bull 44 Mag 6" barrel. I load it to the max with IMR 4227 with 240 gr XTP. (although 1st deer taken was with a 300 gr XTP). I've read where H110 is better, but I have to shoot up all my 4227 1st. Started out using a Nikon Monarch UCC 2.5 x 8 x 28 - deadly out to 50 yds, but settled for a Red Dot scope. Too many shots coming less than 10 yds for me. When we get "Sell/Trade" up and going I'll put the Nikon on the list.

Here is one of the many I have, it's a 308 bullberry 15" on an encore frame with Bullberry wood and hanger bar. Had it out about a while back and shot 1/2" group at 50 yds and 1-1/4" 5 shot extreme spread at 100. The Muzzle break really makes a difference. Really lessens recoil but is quite noisy must wear hearing protection. I may be able to get out during the delaware pistol season as Ihave a permit to hunt from a car. just put this together 357 Max. 13" MGM barrel a really good shooter the last time I had it out. This one I have had for some time 14" 7-30 waters I have taken several deer with this one. I have had this one a 22 LR model #17 This one was the squirrel getter years gone by. I have so many more. Too many to take pictures of, might get energetic and do a group picture. Nothing like pistol hunting. Lou

I used a Ruger 454 on a Texas Boar hunt a number of years back. I Shot a mid-sized boar that was running with a 300 win Mag rifle too far back (failed to lead the boar enough). The Boar turned and charged, and instead of chambering another round in the rifle (I still do not know why I did not use the rifle), I pulled the 454 from the side holster and shot. The bullet went through the skull, out the back of the head, entered again in the neck, went through the spine, followed the spine all the way to the rear end of the Boar. The bullet was found in the rear ham of the hog. I was using off the shelf Winchester 260g Cassull. I have since put a 2x Burris scout scope on it, but have yet to harvest any other animal with that handgun. I now handload for it, and keep the loads hotter than the 44mag, but less hot than a full-house load.

I am new to this site also, although I have questions on other threads. I have a Raging Bull in 454 Casull that I have shot five deer with using a 300 grain XTP Mag. Very effective, all deer were within 100 yards. My other hand gun is a 15' T/C Encore in 460 S&W shooting a 250 grain TMZ at 2550. I have had it for three years and have broken two Burris scopes, one was used and one was used. I put a Nikon Encore scope on it this year and shot a real big doe at 266 yards and broke that scope too. I was able to return it to the store where I bought it. I just got it back from SSK Industries, they put their TSOB scope mount and rings on it and a Bushnel 3200 Elite 2-6 power scope. The only other scopr they recommend is a Leopold, but they cost twice as much. The Bushnell has full eye relief at 6 power which is great for hand gun shooting. The Barnes bullets are eating my pocket book so I am waiting for a box of Speer 300 gr. Gold dots to show up (they are two days late) so I can work up a new load for our extended firearms season this weekend in Ohio. If they don't show tomorrow the old reliable MLII gets to go into the field.
Harley, is that a Drahthaar? If so, I have two of them. They are fantastic dogs.

Hey, Huntsman: Good to see you on the Board. Re: my Avatar - you have his twin at your home.
I hunt with a modified T/C G2 14" 30-30 set up for 300 yards. It hasn't killed any scopes, but at that range only the Burris 3-12X multi-plex offers the magnification I need. Unhappily, my first Burris would flare, at dusk or dawn, completely wiping out whatever I was viewing. My replacement Burris is okay, but the sub-crosshairs are a joke: the horizontal arms are so short they can't be seen in the typical low light of morning and evening deer hunting. I wish I could find a better 300 yard handgun scope, but I don't think there's one out there.

Ourway77, is the .357 Maximum stocked by Dr. Tony Gettle? I have one that looks a lot like yours?
I'd really like to know who did the muzzle brake and how well it performs.

Harley, I was able to work a new load with my new bullets last night. I was very impressed the clarity and eye relief of the Bushnell 3200 Elite 2-6 that I put on the .460. I to have a Burris (it's broke) and am disappointed in the crosshairs and eye relief aboce 3X. The Elite has 20" of eye relief at 6X and it is very clear all the way to the edges, very crisp also. You can also charge the crosshairs with a flashlight for two minutes for low light conditions. I believe the highest magnification is 6X. It is also the first scope I have been able to shoot more than 10 rounds with and hold up. You should check one out at a store some time.

Huntsman, I already have the 3200 Elite 2-6, and it is just as good as you say; but, when I developed my 300 yard load I needed more magnification and only Burris offered it. I just wish the Burris had more pronounced sub-cross hairs.
