A friend of mine just got an Omega Z5 weathershield synthetic as a gift. I'm looking for a few accurate loads for him to try using Blackhorn 209. I have tons of different sabots and bullets for him to try left from my Savage before I went to a .45 barrel.

I would try 100-grains using black crushed sabots and 250-grain shockwaves, using CCI M primers. It's been a good load for me. Hope it does the same for your friend. Have a great day! Dave

Harvester appears to make three sabots for .50's with .45 cal.bullets (long, short, regular?) all black. Which one is best for shockwaves and xtp's? Also what is the black sabot that comes with the 250gr shockwave?

The SBH or Short Black Harvester is the one that normally works best in TC barrels with a SW250gr. The sabots that come with the 45 SW's has been the MMP HPH24. Lee

I have been shooting a 50 cal Omega for years now. It is an older SS gun and is super accurate.
For whitetail I shoot 110 grains of T7-2f, a Nosler .451/260 grain Partition, in a MMP HPH-24 sabot. I have shot a lot of Harvester Short Black and Harvester Regular Black sabots from it also. For myself I really can not tell a difference between the three different sabots in a hunting situation. I really prefer the HPH-24 especially in very cold weather.
Since newer TC bores can be very tight, I think it may somewhat of a search for you to find the sabot that might go down the barrel best for you. It might be that you will need to use a Harvester 'Crush Rib' or even a MMP HPH-3p EZ load if your bore is one of the newer typically tight bore.

I have some MMP's for him to try, he's ordered some sbcr havesters. We plan on starting out with shockwaves with all the different sabots he and I have, then experiment with other bullets I have. Thanks all for the advice, we have a good place to start from now.

Great! After a lot of help from the board members I love the crushed ribbed harvester sabots and the 250-grain shockwaves. I took another groundhog today at 105-yards according to the range-finder. To be fair I missed one at 114-yards. But it was my shooting not the Triumphs or the loads on that miss. On the first one at 100-the scope was exactly where I aimed so much so that I could see the tail flapping after the shot. The second one I just couldn't get in a comfortable enough shooting position and when I shot the gun went sideways along with the shooting stick. I was close and after finding where the bullet hit, it was right on line but I suspect high. Enjoy the new Omega! Have a great day! Dave

For my SS Omega (four year old model), I am getting sub 1 inch groups with two fifty grain triple seven pellets, triple seven primer and 285 grain Barnes Spitfire MZ. Scope is 3X9 Nikon BDC. Longest shot with clean kill on deer was 207 yds.

In my Z5, I've had good luck with the 250TMZ in the blue EZ sabots over 110grns BH209 lit by CCI 209Ms for 2115 fps avg. The 200grn SWs shot ok over the same load for 2200fps. Same load with the 250SST in HPH12s gave 2150 fps.
Good Luck
