Does anyone know anything about the Electra? Any problems with it? I was looking to get another new inline and was considering an Electra or maybe a T/C Triumph.
Any suggestions?

Mike Bellm thinks very highly of the Electra and has an in depth review on them. To bad it won't ignite BH209. The benefits of the two would make a great combination.

check with your local hunting regs for legality for hunting with it in your area.

I checked an electra out at the local Bass Pro today, Very nice but I got to thinking about the ignition system. While probably far better than primers it also can't be removed so you would have to actually unload the rifle for transport in management areas. Also I'm not too sure I trust an electronic firing system given my luck with anything high tech.
I decided to get the T/C Triumph instead, hopefully I'll be able to get decent accuracy out of it.

Changed my mind and returned the Triumph. Got an Electra. CVA has a $100 rebate and a satisfaction guarantee on the Electra. It says that if after 2 weeks if I don't think it's the best muzzle loader I have ever shot they will refund my money! So I figured how could I lose? CVA recommends White Hot pellets and a Powerbelt bullet but does anyone know if BH209 would be a problem in the Electra?

Yeah, I think that applies to the accura too. Weather permitting I will try it out this sunday.

Good luck. I know nothing about the electra....but even if Savage came out with a battery ignition system I would have nothing to do with it.
Sounds good on paper, but I can't imagine relying on electricty, wires, and technology to make the same BBQ that a 209 makes.
But this opinion is coming from a skeptic...not an expert.

I just got back from the range with my new Electra. Let me tell you, I bet they don't get many returns on that satisfaction guarantee. They sure won't be getting this one back!
This thing is INCREDIBLE! Bullet holes not only touch at 100 yds but were so close that I had to keep going downrange to make sure it wasn't just one bullet in the hole! I shot 2 consecutive 3 shot groups that were less than .5" ctc. I shot 2 white hot pellets under a 200gr T/C shock wave sabot. This is a .40 cal bullet in a .50 cal sabot. I fired it 30 that's THIRTY times in a row with NO swabbing at all! Last bullet still loaded easy even though this is a fairly tight sabot. There was no detectable crud at the bottom of the barrel like I get with a 209 primer. The only problem I had was using the sights before I mounted the scope. I wanted to know where it would hit if I ever damaged my scope. I tried several bullet weights but even with the rear sight as low as it would go it still hit 8" high at 100 yds. With a 295gr powerbelt it was even higher. Perhaps it would be closer to point of aim with magnum loads, or maybe Pyrodex or 777 pellets would shoot lower. Not really worried about it because I plan to use the scope anyway.
This is easily the most accurate muzzle loader I have ever seen and with the rebate it only cost $269. Oh yeah, and no more primers to buy, forget to bring or drop while reloading. ;D ;D ;D

sounds like a winner. can't beat the rebate either. i believe it has a bergara barrel on it. i have one on my tc encore and it is a tack driver. you have peaked my interest in the electra.

Yes, it does have a Bergara barrel. I gotta say the inside of that barrel is as fine as I have ever seen. Extremely smooth and uniform from end to end. Between the bore and the electric ignition I guess I should have expected great accuracy. It just shoots so well and so clean I'm still just in awe! I paid $369 for mine and they can be had for less, but right now I wouldn't sell mine for $1000.

blackhawk, Did you chronograph that 200gr bullet?

They do make lithium 9V batteries. You can get them directly from CVA. They are recommended for temps that stay below freezing. The DVD that came with the Electra says the spark is a good deal hotter than 209 primers. As much as 5 times as hot depending on the primer. It is a smaller flash than a 209 but is white hot.
I did not chronograph the 200gr or any other bullet( don't have one). They must be faster than the heavier bullets and have a lot less recoil.
