Good morning, Yesterday I purchased a savage 10ml it is not marked ml-ii so I'm assuming I purchased the generation 1 rifle. I did not realize they were completely different than the gen 2. My question is, is there any source at all for a new breech plug or vent liners? I've searched the internet but can't come up with anything. If I can't, at least, replace the vent liner did I just purchase a useless rifle? I've read to replace the ventliner every 100 rounds. If I can't do this I'm guessing it won't shoot well. I live in Illinois so I don't have the rifle in front of me

Also The side says 10ml not ml-ii the serial number is m007267. The bolt face does not look like a normal bolt face. It looks like it has a slot for a primer. Can someone confirm that the ml-1 would look like any other savage bolt face?

Ok, just so I onow I understand you correctly. You have seen a rifle marked 10ml not 10ml-ii that doesn't use the cartridge style primer carrier but instead has the ml-ii type system where the primer just slides into the bolt face?

All MLI have modules unless the owner changed the breech plug. Main reason MLI were discontinued was you could screw on any large shank barrel and make a centerfire rifle. MLI at one time were sought after by benchrest shooters because of the strong action. Mike

Ok. I can't figure out how to post pictures but my rifle is definitely marked 10ml not 10ml ii and it definitely has the newer primer holder ( not module) and the ml ii breech plug

Yes. My bolt head looks like that. It doesn't take the module ( which I purchased) primer goes right in. The breech plug is from the ml2 as well as the vent liner. I haven't shot it yet but I'm certain this is a ml2 marked as an ml1 which I saw a similar serial number sell on gun broker that was just like mine. All the features of the ml2 but marked ml
