My son and I recently went on a road trip to southern Louisiana to see a engine builder to get a stage2 build done on our motor..it was worth every penny! While we were there we went on several day and night time self guided trips in the local swamps...my biggest concern was snakes but we never saw a single one!I kept a eye peeled! lol Our first outing was in brackish/saltwater flats one morning..my son says dad there is a shark or a dolphin! Turns out it was dolphins feeding within 15 yards of our boat!We were not far from the Gulf and were on a channel that went directly to the gulf. That was pretty neat!We traveled north the next day to find a fresh water swamp and gators...we found them!We spent the better part of a day exploring the Black Bayou swamp...the diversity of wildlife is incredible! We left there and drove back to Chauvin to get something to eat and pulled into Big Al's Seafood Restaurant as we parked the truck and boat out back by some walk in coolers a man walked up and introduced himself and said so you all got 3? I looked at him puzzled and he looked into our boat and said I thought you all were the ones that called about bringing in 3 gators...lol Apparently he bought and sold gators! lol..its a different way of life down there for sure!On our last night time trip we encountered 4 shrimp trollers...That was pretty neat to watch them harvest shrimp! We bow fished on every trip but the last trip into the swamps my son arrowed a 6ft alligator gar and he put up one heck of a fight! Thought I was going to have to finish him with my pistol! lol
