Lets start at its a Kit, cost including shipping $713.50. With that out of the way is it worth that price ? NO ! I have est. 18 hours into the kit to finish it. Make no mistake on this kit, they did all the inletting on stock. I had some clean up wood chisel work n so on. Had to polish all brass, barrel came with a poor bluing job. Barrel is 28.5" long, is a .45 cal in a 1-48 twist. Either i read or watched several videos telling that the barrel needed .010 patches for .440 round balls. Either i have a fluke or someone is passing bad info around, mine needs minimum of .015 patch thickness. I have the flintlock model, listen carefully here most would do much better to get a percussion model ! They come with a tiny priming pan, they come with a poorly touch hole of 1/32". You will have many flash in the pan moments. The lock n vent need lots of work n tuning to get it to shoot even close to what it should be. The lock is small uses a 5/8" flint, best get English Black flints for sure. Accuracy once you can get it to fire, is hole cutting group at 25 yards. I have not got to the range since i have finished it. To see what it will do at 50-75 or 100 yards

I had won in an auction off of Gunbroker a new in the box Traditions, Woodsman Hawken for sum of $420 including tax n shipping. Its a Flintlock also, in a 50 cal with a 1-48 twist. It was factory built not a kit, but it walks all over the Pedersoli models.

I made it to the shooting range this past friday. I had bad time with this lil Scout. I could not get the rear trigger to set. I finally thumbed back on hammer as i had trigger pulled to get the shot off. I loaded it the second time, n no matter what idid it would not fire. I got home tore it down but it was loaded n i could not even clean it. I kept on chasing down one problem after another. Then rear stock screw in trigger guard was twisting the stock so bad the trigger would not work. I repaired that factory screw up along with coupls more. Went out to the back side of my 4 acres n shot it. Went off like a charm, n no troubles with trigger n lock now

Well i went to shooting range yesterday morning. I have had too much trouble with the lock n flints. I had to use 3 new Eng. black flints to shoot 7 times. Few clatches of flints not being sharp. So i may have an overly hardened frizzen. I will try to work with it this Fall. If i can't get it to shoot right i will get warranty to replace frizzen & or lock completely

The sights that came with the Scout leave a lot to be desired. I can see this rifle is going to take a lot of time n effort to get it shooting properly n have trust in it to fire when trigger is pulled. If i were to go tick toter hunting with it right now, i would just take my crossbow. That is how much faith i have in Pedersoli Flintlocks

It's been awhile since i was on here. My old laptop just upped n died. Have new one but took more time to get pw dug out n had moved to another State. Now to up date this thread, i had to file n smooth the Frizzen spring & the lock spring. Then i found out the vent liner protruded into the patient breech so bad i had to completely rework it. Now it will shoot & its accurate. It was a pia to do all of the work i did to be able to shoot it n enjoy it.
