Well, my laptop went for a crap. As they say, when you least expect it because nothing lasts forever. But all is not lost as most of the info was stored on an external hard drive. Also have another laptop that was designated for something else, not anymore, chuckle. The real awakening for me is how dependent one becomes on today’s electronics for communicating. Okay I’m not dead in the water but need to see how I can recover some of the remaining data if possible. Also need to learn a new photo editing program as the older one I had is no longer available. The one thing with today’s technology is the learning never stops as advancements are made. Instead of being easier it seems the learning becomes more complicated.

There should be a shop that can pull the hard drive and recover the data. I've had to send a laptop out to recover the hard drive data.

Have fun with the snow LOL! My location in the south east US the snow depth wasn't too bad (no shoveling yeah!). But snow down here is always wet, heavy, and instantly packs to sheet ice. Couple that with no snow removal equipment and general population's lack of experience driving in snow, yesterday was a 2 pot of coffee before going outside. Secondary external hard drive is also a good option.

Billc In my location we don’t normally get a snow dumping over a foot. But this time at least 20-plus inches and that’s not including wind drift snow. When the weather gets severe, I stay off the roads and let the other wild card drivers play, chuckle. With icy conditions the one thing I watch for is Black Ice that is usually found on bridges. I had one encounter with black ice and survived without a fender-bender. Never forgot that experience. We now also have a law that requires such snow build up on the roof of the vehicle that has to be removed before driving. I don’t have a problem with that after having been hit with flying chunks of snow. Hopefully no more snow storms this year.

Yeah black ice can get big numbers on the Suck-O-Meter! I hit some when I lived in Oregon and went over a small cliff. Stood my truck on the front bumper, tailgate, front bumper, tailgate, front bumper. Stopped on my roof with doors wedged between boulders and trees. Didn't make it to work that morning.

Billc
Wow, talk about a life changing event that you survived. To me there’s nothing more frightening than loosing control of certain activities such as driving and just hope to survive without hurting anyone else. Glad to know you’re still around after such an event.

It was an interesting ride. My only injuries were from crawling out of the blackberry brambles to get away from the truck. I miss that truck though!

Bill that is one tough act to follow summersaulting in a truck and the worst part of the event is crawling out of blackberry brambles that caused injuries. Sorry, as for missing the truck I can’t console you on that one.
