The not so fun part of owning an SML is cleaning it. I imagine we all have our own techniques. For the main cleaning chore, I use a product called “Butch’s Bore Shine”. It does a good job IMO. Now there is another product I use twice a year that appears to help with keeping my bore cleaner for a longer period of time. It’s called EWL Slip 2000. slip2000.com/slip2000_ewl.phpCarbon and plastic fouling like to lodge themselves into bore crevices and build up, altering the bore fit of a load. For me with dirtier burning powders this buildup quickly escalades that begins to affect my groups. Dry swabbing works to a point but with the addition of EWL I can go a longer period of dry swabbing before a full cleanup is necessary. Heck I give my BP a full cleaning more often than my bore going this route. Some might think I’m going to an extreme with maintaining cleanliness, dry swabbing and using EWL. My target results would argue that, chuckle. Keep in mind my tighter loads force the sabot petals deeper into the grooves. By swabbing excess fouling helps maintain my load resistance at a certain level. Extreme maybe but gives me results I'm seeking.
