The weather with Temps exceeding 90F is not a fun day to be outdoors. Under such conditions a trip to the man cave is in order where it’s cooler. Here I normally prep loads or play with projects. Well, all my load preps are done and don’t have any projects on the go. Okay time to find a simple project to occupy my time. Now I’ve had a few misfires this year that required pulling the breech plug. When that is done there’s always some powder granules that find their way into the BP threads in the receiver. Bit of a pain in the butt to clean so, what can I build to help simplify this chore? Looking around I found some components I would try to assemble. Doesn’t look pretty but I believe this will make the cleaning chore easier. The orange handle can be removed and a variable speed drill can be attached if a more aggressive cleaning needs to be done. The final cleaning step I use involves a blast of compressed air. No, I haven’t used it yet and hope not for a while, chuckle.

I have a number of projects I need to finish that has required me for some time to be out in 90 plus degree temps. I agree it is not much fun.

Boy you got to be in great shape to work in that heat. I'm situated between 2 great lakes and the humidity can add to the discomfort. But what concerns me is the lakes are heating up above normal so that when winter arrives they won't readily freeze. Here lake effect snow can cause large accumulations of unwanted snow. It sucks getting tagged at both ends of the weather cycle, chuckle.

Glad to see that our resident inventor has come up with yet another one. You must drive the price of aluminum up in your neighborhood. Lake Erie will freeze at some point but Lake Ontario almost never does. NW winds deliver my blessings from Lake Ontario. It's the gift that keeps on giving. The folks living just north of me really get blasted. For now, stay in the shade as best you can.

DBinNY Interesting You term me as an inventor whereas I like to think of myself as a builder of necessity. To be honest I’m not a fan of cleaning my 50 and anything I can make so this process is easier I’m all for it. What got my thinking in this direction was misfires and the cleaning chores that followed. Normally I don’t experience misfires but experimenting with different powders kind of opened my eyes. Anyway, the grey matter is still active enough to whip up a simple tool, chuckle. If you don’t get much lake effect snow you are lucky. Winter of 77 we got whacked here so bad that everything came to a standstill. I remember it well. www.bing.com/search?q=winter+of+77&cvid=3dc0a15ee2d948c0ab1fd75e33325cd0&aqs=edge.0.0l9.17970j0j1&pglt=299&FORM=ANNTA1&PC=LCTS

We have a vacuum cleaner attachment for cleaning such things as computers. It uses a small diameter hose with attachments on the end of it. This worked great the one time I used it for cleaning out unspent powder out of the 10MLII. I was a little surprised that it got out ALL of the powder.
