Do you folks have suggestions on how/where to get a custom bolt action smokeless ML made? I called Hankins, but their voice mail said "don't call us - email instead". I've sent 3 emails over about 3 weeks, and no response. Makes me wonder how hard contact would be after sending money, if it's this hard before paying. I tried Richard Franklin, but he's retired. I may just build it myself, but I had thought it would be nice to have it professionally done.

I would go to few pawn shops or gun shops and look for a SAVAGE short action rifle or a Stevens 200 short action. Once you have that get in touch with LUKE at ARROWHEADRIFLE.COM. Luke is a great guy to work with he can set you up with just what you need. After you get the rifle he can tell you just what barrel you need he has a bolt nose kit for Savage rifles for 209. He has his own breech plug that seals better than the Savage one does. You can go up to the ARROWHEAD SPORTING GOODS and it will take you to his new site. I did one one a Stevens 200 SA and changed it to a 45cal and it is a deer killer scope is zeroed in at 200yds. I have a 10ML-ll 50cal scope is zeroed in at 200yds too. Shooting sabots in the 50cal sabot less in the 45cal. Luke can set you up with a finished gun too.

Thanks for the tips. I gave up on Facebook several years ago, so I can't see that page. I'll try Luke/Arrowhead and LR. Also, I just noticed the message at the top of the screen - about Bill Ball. After googling his name, I see he and his father are the Godfathers of smokeless muzzleloading, so I'll give him a call, too.

You have probably found someone by now , I am new to the smokeless ml I got Luke at arrowhead to build me one and he was fantastic about everything. He answered when I ask something , everything was in range of what he told me about the build . When I received the rifle it exceeded my expectations and preformed like a custom build should .

One is a full sized , heavy, long range rifle that is very effective to >600 yards with a lot of potential beyond in more experienced hands. The other is the ultimate Ultralite 40 weighing just 6# 13 oz that is effective to >300 yards. Of course they could be made in 40 cal also. Jimbob’s work is extremely impressive! The ultralite.

After 2 decades of carrying a 10ML2/40cal PN/MB on a laminated stock with a substantial scope 13-14# and now hunting with this rifle, I’m totally spoiled!
