Got up this morning to put garbage bags to the curbside for pickup and this is what greeted me. Okay there goes my date for the annual Spring waltz with the Dinosaur (Roto-Tiller), to prepare the garden for Spring planting. Time to get snow shoveling again.

Well shoveling snow doesn't cause my hayfever to act up.

Not having allergies, I can only imagine what hay-fever is like. Definitely no pollen in the air. The big concern for farmers is that a lot of fruit trees were starting to bud and what damage this late snowfall and freezing might do to the trees. I enjoy consuming seasonal fruit and hope this doesn’t cause the price of fruit to skyrocket. Covid 19 already has jacked prices for food.

Similar here in Ohio. 4.5 inches of heavy snow on Tues, 1.5 inches on Wed. All melted during the day and none stuck to the roads, the pavement was too warm. Near 80 next week.

Didn't have any snow in TN, except mountain peaks. It did get cold, so turkey hunting wasn't as much fun and I had to turn the furnace back on.

Hope you bag a nice Tom for your effort. This is just the second year I've ever hunted turkey. It's fun and if I shoot one that's great and if I don't that is ok too. I do get a charge out of calling them and if they respond. Not quite as much of a charge as calling elk though :-)

Billc
I’ve only had the opportunity to harvest one nice Tom in my life time that left me with a strong fond memory. It was an ambush and not a calling hunt. I sat in an old overgrown fence row and was patterning the routes turkey were travelling. As it happened 3-hens came roaming along feeding as they progressed towards my location. Then out of nowhere a Tom came racing towards them. Stopping about 30ft from the hens he began to strut. The hens just ignored him and kept moving along. I couldn’t get a clean shot at 40yds but at 30yds he made a mistake. After strutting he stuck his head up to see if any hen was interested. He didn’t get any interest from the hens but had my attention as I floored him with a load of #5 shot. The bird was just under 22lbs and a pain in the butt carrying him 400yds back to my vehicle. In the end it was worth it.
