I have found a way, without altering dies. I was looking things over this morning and I figured I could try it, since the Hornady once fired is about 1/16" short, I removed the seating crimping die and turned it upside down, put it in my hardwood loading block, put a loaded round in it and give it a gentle tap with a small mallet, low and behold I got a nice crimp..😊

I also found by removing the shell holder the 45/70 has a wide enough rim it can sit on the ram without it, then just turn the die in a bit more until you get a nice crimp.
