I traded some bullets for a pound of 4759. I am going to use it out of a Sluefoot converted H&R 45/70 using 200 grain sabots with Hornady sst's. Can someone recommend a starting load? Thank you!

40 grains works very well with 209 ignition and 200 grain bullets, approx 2,450 fps

I liked 4759. Do not like it too much, they discontinued it. I use it more for a starter load now to conserve it. The load mentioned above would be a good place to start IMO.

I think 40gs is a good, but close to max load. 200SST and 195Bs knurled.

Use the 4759 as a starter in a duplex along with 4198 as a main charge. I shoot a 10-50 4759-4198 in my H&R 45 caliber slufoot conversion and it works great.

"Starter" load at 35 grain under HSB and 200 grain bullet. I tried it and got clover leaf groups and didn't change a thing. Sure tried down to 30 and up to 38 grains and at 37 grains began to blow sabots in my 1st 45. That barrel gone now and can do up to 38 w/o problems in my Brux barrels, and shooting the heavier 40 grainers from Pittman and Fury. I lightly knurl all of my sabot bullets.
So, start at 35 and go up 1 grain at a time until you get the accuracy you want.
Reflects my experience and opinion, others will vary. 10ga
