The first is a Savage SML with a .40 PacNor barrel by RB in AR. That was out of a large blank with bad spots I cut and glued into two pieces to make that stock. French Red for color. The second and third are of a Savage SML with a .45 barrel I got from TG in PA. I have his original Savage stock yet. This stock perhaps should have been scrapped. It had two large voids in it. Bigger than a nickel size and 3/4 inch deep. I sealed the soft wood, put a 1/2 inch bolt cut to 4 1/2 inches through the wrist to stabilize it. In doing so the void just also broke through the sidewall. Very small there and an easy fix with walnut dust, glue and a bit of color. Glued the bolt in with super glue and gorilla glue after I got it in the hole and it would not come out. I had even cut a slot in the bolt top so I could screw it in, but apparently not out. Then put epoxy PC-7 on top. Used water putty, walnut dust and a bit of stain in the void. Glassed in the action. Ran out of release agent so I used a bit of cooking oil as a release agent. Not good, stained some of the wood and had to use mineral spirits to get it out. Also did not let the action fully release. Broke out a triangular piece about 1.5 inches by 4 inches. Glued the chunk back with TiteBond III, really would not know its there if I did not point it out. We will see if it stands up to recoil. Also fixed the loose recoil pad.
The fourth stock is on a Rem 700 ML, not SML with a .45 barrel. This is a Bestill rifle I bought from him. Just wanted it in Walnut. No stain on that one, just its natural dark color.
The next should not be on here but did not know how to remove it, glued up sycamore out of my nephew's 5 foot diameter tree. Ruger 10/22.
Used wipe on poly in satin on the wood.

The sycamore butt stock is beautiful. Looks a lot like cottonwood. Beautiful wood on all! Good job.

Beautiful WOOD stocks! Keep the art alive...I'm so sick and tired of seeing SINthetic on store racks!
