I was at the Dayton, Ohio air show taday. I had not been there for years. What an excellent show and the weather was even mild. Well worth going next year if you live fairly close.

I got spoiled when I use to work at the airport. I basicly could sit right across the runway from the chalet area or get on the roof of the maintenance building. I usually take the grandson but this year gave him the choice of the air show or the drag races and he chose the drag races. The weather for this years show was at least great.

I was stationed at Wright Patt from 1970 to 72 and enjoyed the air shows. I was there when they moved the B-70 to Patterson Field. It was amazing to see that big thing going down the street. The AF museum there is a fantastic experience. Even took my wife there on our first date.

When I went to Wright State in 1970 I lived right across from the AF museum.

The AF Museum is probly 4 times the size it was in the 70s. It is almost tough to see everything in one day. You have three large buildings (and a IMAX) plus the annex across the field where they keep the presidential planes along with some other real gems and the restoration shops. A great adventure to see some great history and best of all it is free admission.

In my book the AF Museum in Dayton and the Navy Air museum at Pensacola are two of the best museum exhibits in the country. Lots of history at both.

Down Pensacola way you have the Air Force Armament museum over at Eglin AFB and if you go north the rifle room at the Infantry museum at Ft Benning is a sight to see. Plus there was a starting of a Army Aviation museum at FT Rucker last time I was there.
