I've been trying to get mine to group rather patterning. I have 1/8 and 1/10 bbls. AR platform. Can't get anything over 70 grns to show promise. Was hoping on 85 grn range. Been over at proboards BHW and predator masters. Seems unless your running a BHW barrel your SOL.
Results anyone? Good or bad.

I have a 6x45, Shilen 1:9 barrel on Rem 700 action. I've tried Win 748, I4895, H322 powder with 80, 90, & 100 gr bullets. 90 & 100 gr bullets sucked. Fair results with H322 and 80 gr bullets, but some suspected temperature issues play havoc on groups. Plan on working with lighter bullets this summer. Do you have room for an 80gr bullet in an AR magazine? I understand there is a big difference between a bolt gun and a gasser so take my comments with a grain of salt. Bill

Hey Billc, AR is all I've been running. I use ASC SS mags which allow a bit more length. Then I cut a "U" notch in the front of the mag. Gets a OAL about 2.315. Greg "GLSHOOTER" at blackholeweaponry.proboards is very knowledgeable on the 6x45. Swears the 87g Hornady is a great one for it. Beleive he is shooting BHW polygonal barrels.
I haven't found any acceptable 80 plus loads for it though. If I pull the trigger fast enough I could duck hunt with 80 plus grainers the way it patterns. LOL
What I am finding is the 70 and 75 grain stuff groups well. The 77 Lapua Scenars are sub MOA. But I want a game bullet.
The 80 gr BarnesTTSX show promise. Speer and Nosler 70,75 as well.
It is an attractive load. I wanted it primarily for coyote and whitetails .
I'll stay in touch if I find a load that works..

I too wanted an 80 gr hunting bullet. Some days I get one hole 5 shot groups, other days my shotgun groups tighter :-). After I anneal some brass I'll start on the less than 80 gr load development. If you find a load please let me know. If I find one I'll let you.

L2S, Shot today, 94F and 2000% humidity in east TN :-D. Parts to modify my annealing machine haven’t arrived so I used new Laupa match 223 brass, Redding dies, PMC primers, and H322 with 70 gr Sierra HPBT bullets. Bullets are seated 0.015 off of the lands giving a 2.349 COL. The following 5 loads are based from the Sierra Manual. Groups are eyeballed from the squares on the targets and are outside to outside of the holes (I don’t measure with calipers and subtract bullet diameter during load development). Groups are from 5 shot strings.
Load: 23.0 gr 0.50 in 23.5 gr 1.25 in 24.0 gr 1.00 in 24.5 gr 0.75 in 24.8 gr 0.75 in Note there was a small amount of primer cratering with this load.
I’ll shoot these 5 loads again when it cools off some and also bracket the 23.0 gr and 24.5 gr loads. I’d prefer the faster load, but if the slower load is the winner, so be it. All in all I’m much happier with this bullet than I was with the 80 gr and heavier bullets. Bill

Bill, I shot the following last Saturday. Bracketed the 75 grn Speer HP #1205 and a Nosler 70grn HP #26400. I erred on the target writing 70 grn instead of the 75 grn Speer. Shot 2 loads each at 100 yds. Grid is 1". All loads with CCI 450 , LC nickle / brass, IMR 8208. Loads started with 25.8 I use a comparator to load. The Speer was 1.886 and the Nosler was 1.842. Magazine length fodder. It appears from the test I'll be bracketing again with 26.2 to 26.6 with the Speer . 26.4 to 26.6 with the Nosler. Barrel is. X-Caliber 1/10 twist SS. I was happy with what I saw.Trying to post pics. Still wish 80 to 85 grn stuff. Greg

I see I can't add attachments. But the results from the loads that I will be refining resulted from groups that were touching or no less than .5" . I'll PM with my email. Hit me back. Greg

Greg, I haven't tried IMR 8208. Where did you find starting load data? Sounds like you are on right track if the groups are <0.5" at a hundred. Bill

On Black Hole Weaponry forum there is a great fella, shooter ( name also Greg) that has been shooting 6x45 for years. Very informative. There is a excel spread sheet on load data on the site as well. Another powder that I'll be visiting is 3031. Greg suggests using the high end of 223 loads for 6x45. says also to push em hard. Thus the mag primer on my loads. G
