Very cool, Carlos!!! What was recoil like? The recoil is manageable. It won't kill you.

great shooting Carlos..and a great looking rifle...Dave will be excited to get it..last time we talked he said he was excited to get it and get some shooting with it...with the 3 rifle he has there you can leave yours home now ..haha...you will get the big Iowa buck this year...just stay warm
Now if Carlos said the recoil is manageable ...it will be fine..

Nice shooting and good looking gun.
I have shot several CVA / Encore conversions and the muzzle break does a great job of taming them.

I ought to get one of those for a walk-about rifle. Good shooting!

Based on the initial data at the top, what would be the estimated effective kill range for an average deer like animal?
Thanks

Imo, Bullet and velocity700 plus. But 22" light weight break gun wont happen with me as trigger man. Personally350-400 would be under ideal conditions.

I shoot a TC Encore conversion with 55 grains of IMR 4198, 275 grain bullet at approximately 2500 FPS.
I also had been advised that 400 yards was the effective max range with a 275-300 grain bullets.

That sounds pretty fast for only 55gr of 4198 no matter which ignition system you are using.

So is that Scout V2 all original aside from being drilled/tapped for a breech plug?
Whats the cost involved in this whole process??

For the gun and to have the BP installed, less then $600. The T Hole stock was added, now the orginal is back on it, The med mount for the scope did not line up for me, and did not have a natural feel when you shouldered it.

Luke's plug?

Yes, that was with Luke's plug installed. As far as the pressure using 80 gr of 3031, some one else will need to chim in for that.

A quick look on quickloads shows 80gr 3031 to be less than 35kpsi

Carlos, thanks for hooking me up with a new CVA Apex today. I've looked across to the country to no avail -- everyone is out of stock. And you having the best price was an added bonus.

I think that's a good choice and if you eventually decide you want something else, guys will be standing in line to buy it. Carlos is the genuine deal! I have several guns/scopes/pieces of equipment, supplies and a lot of help from Mr V!! I think you'll like your Apex. Good luck!

I have bought numerous items from Carlos both new and used he's a stand up guy won't find any better. CVADave do what I did years ago I would leave the house with an empty case and return with the rifle in it she never caught on to it, No longer have to do that have more funds then I had in those lean years when a cop only made $4000.00 a year

That is the same one, it felt good on it, but needed higher scope rings then the ones that Carlos stuck on it. Just could not get the natural feel when getting behind the scope, so switched back to the orginal stock.
