How about a nutless savage target action conversion? Just packed up one of those to ship out tonight. Those are pretty sweet. Perfect in my book, I like them, that's what my .375 is. Same set up in a .40 would be a winner all day every day! Same on my .45

Get some shilen 392/400 and you'll be good to go. I had nothing but raving reviews from the ones I did. Yes, please start stocking ASG breech plug pre-fit SS Shilen .392" / .400" barrels for the Rem 700 CFs to go with your New CF 209 bolts!

Whats a 40cal do that a 45 can't? Higher BC and/or a lighter bullet which translates to more energy and better trajectory at a longer range edge.

Here are some pictures of the new savage BP I'm carrying. Sorry for taking so long to post. It is SS. Just dark from heat treat. Luke You mentioned the angle on the new bolt nose is now 35*. What is the angle on the corresponding matting surface of the breech plug? In this photo it looks like 45*?

That's the angle of the primer slot, not the chamfer for the BP nose. The BP nose does have a 45* angle like you observed. The bolt nose is designed to allow plenty of clearance to get primer insertion all the way to the bottom of the pocket.

When is ATF going to stop stepping on 2d Amend and quit making people give their life history, name & address of their attorney, names & addresses of their relatives, name address & phone number of their favorite dog, etc., etc.??
Don't believe I want to be at the top of the confiscation list when Killery takes over, thanks!

The ATF has their work cut out for them at the moment! Your paperwork would be somewhere behind this haystack! Lol

Okay, I have to take a little off of my current BP to get it to work with the new bolt nose. The current BP nose is 35* but I'll remove a little material changing it to 45*.

One of us is misinterpreting what Luke is saying. I take the 35 degrees as a rotation angle of the bolt/bolt head from the perspective of the action and will not impact the BP nipple end at all...just make inserting and removing primers easier. edge. Luke if I am wrong just delete this to avoid confusion...edge.

This is what I'm referring to. Again, maybe Luke can comment to avoid confusion?

The angle on the BP is 45*. The angle you are pointing to on bolt head is NOT 35* and NOT 45*. The angles are NOT designed to match between the two pieces. The bolt head has plenty of clearance to allow primer to get to bottom of new bp without contacting BP. If you're contacting the BP, it means you need to adjust the head space on your barrel. Modifying the plug will not do you any good as your head space will be too tight on the primer shelf.
