Going to get an aftermarket stock for the 10ML-II. I will bed the action, free float barrel, and likely add a 3rd pillar. (Leave ramrod off the gun) Primarily a hunting rifle, so not wanting an adjustable comb, LOP and big flat forearm. Looks like the narrow bolt spacing limits the choices down. Biggest thing is, I want to have it ready to go by October 1, I won't be custom ordering a Manners.
What Boyds stocks are good for the 10ML-II? Thumbhole? Classic?

I am a fan of the thumbhole stocks. I didn't have one on my savage but I did have a Boyd's thumbhole on my custom .45 SML. Manners are nice but unless you find one for sale the way you want it. You will definitely wait. I just got my T4A in for my CF build. 29 weeks from time of order. I have a T5A on order for my new SML and it's been 15 weeks and they say it will be ready in 4 weeks.

You can use the Boyds Prairie Hunter or the Classic with a factory .50 barrel, I like the Classic better then the Prairie Hunter. It gets pretty thin out on the forearm and any barrel contour larger will not fit without loosing some form. Then the more popular Boyds with board members is the Varmint Thumbhole and the Pro Varminter.

Im in the same boat but weight is not an issue for me since i only shoot mine for recreation. Even for hunting i have a nice big tree stand that is a close walk. EABCO has a nice one but i think its 4.40 only and its no light weight either.

I used to sell a lot of the "fat head shrooms", one of my mushroom head pillars with a extra large diameter head (7/8") that would still cover the old hole when you moved the pillar for the new spacing. Then the stock makers started making 4.40" stocks. If they want to stop making 4.25" spacing I might have to start making them again.

I went with the Boyds prairie hunter for mine, but it has the ram rod channel in it. I am going to pillar bed it and not mess with the third pillar YET. If the dang cerrakoter will ever get his crap together and get my action and barrel finished I can put it together. Was told 3 weeks and now we are close to 6 and all he can say is sorry we are behind.

Ive been considering the Boyds. Its just annoying that the EABCO stock is not available for 4.27 It already has pillars and a better recoil pad than the Boyds for about $170. Hard to beat that price if you dont mind the weight.

Will the Classic or Prairie take a ramrod without weakening the fore end of the stock or do I go with the Pro Varmint? Great forum. Thanks in advance.

Richard MicroFit sells a variety of stocks BUT they do take a fair amount of time to fit and finish. Not drop in ready to go stocks. If they are not currently available to ship right now then do not order or you might wait several months.

You can do a ramrod slot in both. I had to change the type of nut for the front sling swivel stud, can't remember which stock it was. It might have been a Heritage. I had to send a Featherweight Thumbhole back, too thin in the forearm.

Thanks Rossman40. I'm going with the prairie hunter.
