I've got a Savage Cf conversion with a pacnor 45 caliber large shank barrel from Luke that I've been shooting 70gn of H4198 and a 275MH. I'm thinking about switching to 78gn of H4198 and either a 327MH or the 344 bombs. I spent 2hr looking threw load data and I wasn't able to find anything out. Is 78gn too much? Trying to keep the speed up around 2600 fps . Not really worried about the recoil. Thanks Mark

That's too hot. IMO you need to think about looking at slower burning powders for that heavy of a bullet.

If I stay with 70gn H4198 but go to the 327MH would that be safe ?

71 gr of 4198 with 327 or 344 works nice. Or 94 gr of I3031 work well. These loads are safe in my #17 contour brux 45.

I guess I will try and contact Luke and see if he can tell me what barrel I've got. Thanks

78gr of H4198 and a 327MH or a 344 BOMB is WAY TOO HOT. I have never worked up a load for those bullets, so I don't have a recommendation; however, I would be inclined to look at something slower burning than H4198 for those heavy bullets.

Thanks Luke. After looking at load data I think I'm going to get I3031 and try 90gns and 327MH. From what I think I read this should have the pressure rise to right around 44000 to 46000 psi. Which isnt far from what I'm doing with my 70gn of H4198 and 275mh.
