I finally have gotten together my Savage CF conversion that started in February of last year. This started out as a 243 that I took the barrel off for the action. Thanks to some help from Luke and DaveD Pacnor made the barrel for the DaveD CF plug for cut down 45 ACP brass with LMRP's. Nutless barrel 1.25 inches for 5 inches, then straight tamper to 1 inch at 26 inches plus the break. After that the barreled action went to Kevin Rayhill at Stockade Gunstocks for one of their Elkstalker stocks weighted to offset the barrel. After Cerakote I replaced the trigger with a Rifle Basix Sav-2 trigger set to about 2.5 pounds for hunting. Topped it off with the Vortex Viper HST 4-16x44 in Ken Farrell rings and base. After some load development help From Richard and SavageShooter it finally came together. This was shot at 300 yards with 300 Match Hunters and a 5/60 duplex of Red Dot and 4198. They were 2.17 center to center with 7 shots ending up at just under 2.5 inches. Average speed for this load is running 2662 FPS with a 29 ES over 10 shots. And hopefully the picture upload will work when I hit save. Thanks to everyone on this site who provides input. It takes the learning curve off for the novices.

Great looking rifle and nice shooting. If anyone can help with a sabotless duplex load it's Richard. Glad to see you finally got your rig up and going.

Great looking gun. Did you go with the nipple plug or the newer version? How do you like the stock?

I went with the new style that head spaces of the length of the brass. Mine are cut to 0.435". I am using a 0.040 pure tungsten bushing. The 45 ACP brass seal much better then cut down rifle brass.
I really like the stock. The action is a J series that has an odd action screw spacing (4.52") and Kevin is one of the few that made a stock for it. You can really get your hand in behind it and control the recoil. The stock weighs about 7 pounds. The gun finished is right at 18 pounds with everything.
Sa1000, You can PM DaveD. I got all my stuff through Luke at Arrowhead. I believe Pacnor has all the measurements for Remington CF actions. This one was the first, I believe, Savage CF they did a prefit for with the DaveD plug. I had to get the action face to bolt lug and action face to bolt face dimensions for them to cut the shoulder on the barrel to the correct spot.
Thanks for the compliments. Just came back from another 300 yard session to get my drops and its consistently under 2.5 inches so it looks like I found a winner.

Enjoy your new Build! I have the same plug but a Rem action. It has worked well for me so for. Also Dave D is the man!
