Does anyone make barrels to fit a Rem 700 ML Black Powder, 2004 vintage? Mine has the 209 primer upgrade installed. I would also consider a Factory take off in like new condition. I appreciate any help steering me in the right direction. Thanks in advance!

In the smokeless section or the buy/sell you should be able to get a take off. A fair number were modified to go smokeless with new barrels so the .50s should be around at relatively modest prices. Just make sure they are not corroded or bulged.

you will also have to time the replacement factory barrel for the sights to work wright. you will need a gun smith or machinist.

I replaced mine with one I bought from one of the smokeless builders. Timing it did require a lathe (good to have machinist friends). Just screwing the barrel in, the sights came to about the 4 o-clock position. Slight trimming on the lathe brought to the 12 o-clock. Shoots great! Numrich used to have the blued barrel (including action) on their site for sale.

Thanks gentlemen. Wish I had a lathe. I have the next best thing which is a friend/gunsmith close by with a lathe. I will be checking for a take off barrel.

Sometimes you get lucky with them and they line up.

or if you use a scope it doesn't matter the sights line up, just take off the sights and plug up the holes

I do use a scope, but on my barrel there is also a spring for the purpose of retaining the ramrod. So that needs to be properly aligned also. Beside which, I am anal about my rifles, screw plugs sitting sideways on the barrel would not be acceptable Thanks for the reply.

I have a blue .50 that I think has never been fired. I was going to stick it on Ebay. I would think about going to a custom aftermarket .45 instead.

When Greg rebarreled one of my 700ML he installed a new recoil lug and just milled/machined the lug thickness to allow the sights to align correctly. That should be much easier than working on the barrel. $.02 10 ga
