I was wondering if any of you guys have done a conversion on a H&R Buffalo Classic.. they have a longer barrel than a standard H&R. Is there any benefit from having a longer barrel?? Thanks Rob

A little more speed and the ability to cut a drop for a die without making the barrel to short is about all I can think of.

I believe slufoot has done some conversions for people who have used the buffalo. The neat thing about the buffalo is you can cut the barrel down to a desired length rather than the h&r 45/70 with I believe a 22" barrel.

Plenty, IMO. However, a BC would be a real good looker, for sure. I also think Slufoot has done some in the last couple years or so. I know at the time I had mine done, April 2011, he had not.

I have a BC custom done by Jeff Hankins with HIS ignition, barrel 29" and Jeffs custom module\ lmrp holder so you can use the extractor set up in the barrel works awsome !!!!!! He also took the drop and made me a die set up to size bullets .This gun shoots hornady .452 sized to .451.5 nice but lus parker 275 BE knurled and sized to 451.5 . It also shoots , black horn very well either full form bullets or sabots . You wont go wrong !

Thanks Guys.. I have checked out Mr Hankins conversions.. they are nice.. I cant really justify the expense for the conversion.. when the 8+ conversions Slufoot has done for me and my hunting buddies are all shooting under an inch groups at 100 yds. I really like the wood on the BC's and may have Slufoot cut one down for me to 23" or 24" ..

The longer barrel will burn more of the slower powders and increase velocity. Also if your tall like me you wont have to bend down as much to load.

I have a H&R that slufoot cut to 26" of usable length, think twice cut once.cause that's the only chance you're gonns get. I love it.
