Nothing special here, but it is the lightest smokeless muzzle loader I have built so far. The stock if from Bell and Carlson and the barrel is a Pac-Nor 25" Sendero contour that was fluted. The rig, less the mount and scope which the customer will put on, weights right at 7 lbs. 6 oz. Richard free screen capture

Nice stock, lvsf stock is a nice fit for these builds a little more meat in the forend and basically the same stock as the Ti.

I like the "no frills" concept. I bet it will shoot good with standard loads.

If I was to switch from a break action to a bolt, for the heavy timber and terrain I hunt in that would be it. With lukes new or Hankins plug ofcourse.

Very nice Richard. He may come back and want a brake unless he puts a 2 lb. Nightforce on it.

I have done several of these light guns and without the aid of a brake they can be a little intense. with a brake they are not bad at all. they sure carry well and one don't feel under gunned if the ole boy steps out way over yonder....

This is the second rifle I built for the man. It is 1 lb. lighter than his first and he is happy with the results. He only shoots saboted .40 bullets with the tried and true 10/50----4759/4198 load and recoil is mild. I test fired it in the back yard and it is very doable. He wanted it for a carry/stalking rifle. That's a great load for that gun and saboted allows you to feel safe with that lighter contour to keep the weight down. Great build!

That looks great I love the profile of the LVSF stock. Does that stock have the aluminum bedding block or is it pillar bedded?

Maybe its just the pic but the only thing I don't like is it looks like the flutes are cut too close to the breech plug nose for my comfort.

Really nice not stealing the thread but with a brake does one have to wear hearing protection while hunting? I have a 7 MM Mag with a brake I only use it while sighting in it's way too loud w/o hearing protection

I would always wear hearing protection when shooting a gun equipped with a brake. Buy some protective ear muffs that will amplify sound to a given decibel then block anything louder.

Sorry to bump a old post, but when you run a short straight shank like the one shown above - are you restricted to light loads? I have a barrel coming and I really like the looks of a shorter shank to the long 5" shanks that are common. That said I want to be safe..... Thoughts?

You can shoot fairly stout loads, but there is no safety margin for a loading mistake. Don't think it will happen to you, many have thought the same and were wrong. I limit my lightweight sendero to moderate saboted loads.

I really like the look of this build and shank length.
Do saboted loads produce lower pressures than a full formed load? Would such a short shank not be suitable for full formed loads?

My most resent build ( RKS Barrel) has a similar shank and I limit my sabotless loads to 60 grs of 4198 powder. It could probably handle stiffer loads but I reserve those to my heavier Krieger and Douglas barrels.

I would reserve sabotless heavy bullet loads to a longer shanked barrel. You can add 2-3" to the shank and add very little weight. Talk to Luke, I think he may sell a longer shanked Sendero.
