So... What all would it include to convert this to a 209 new Arrowhead plug system. I am thinking a plug and a barrel but what about bolt changes? Thanks Drop

Russell
you would have to go the Hankins route via a primer carrier, otherwise it would mean a custom bolt made for 209s..

Would not go with the xr100 action over the standard SA 700 , you will encounter eye relief problems when you mount a scope as the XR is shorter than the SA 700

the XR is only about 1/2" shorter than a sa 700, dont be afraid of scope problems. Mine and others work great....

Here is the bolt that I have been helping kash913 with. Just chatting we discovered we had similar ideas for a drop in 700sa bolt that would use 209's and the savage and Luke's new plug. Kash913 took it to someone that could make a great one piece bolt and it is now in capable hands for full production once we test it. Thanks kash913 for your drive to take it where it needs to be to meet price and quality standards. Coupled with Luke's new plug this will be the way to convert 700 short actions and the ultimate way to convert the remington ultimates. We will test them and have them available very soon! Luke can you say package deal??

Muznut, kash913 will take care of the high volume production and I would be willing to tinker with the one offs like you're talking about.

I had this done 10 years ago by a gunsmith in OK named Paul Day, my first smokeless muzzleloader, he must of must of used a bad plug as it leaked horribly, I sold it but the fact is with the right plug it could be an option. Ray

THIS is what I've been waiting for. Perhaps now it's time for me to get serious about another build. Great job gentlemen. I hope the testing goes well.

Ray Ray, I think the key with a the 209 in a CF system is taking advantage of the lugs and getting a crush fit on nose of the primer. Counting on the side of the primer to seal only works with the Winchesters because they're actually round unlike CCI and Fed.

Yeh Luke I was pretty green at the time and didn't have a board like this to tell all my troubles to. Patience is a virtue that I've lacked at times in my life, I wonder what that railroader Jeff hankins has to say about this, probably wondering "why would anyone want to destroy a perfectly good Remington bolt". Just kidding Jeff, Ray

It fits a Remington but it is a totally custom build bolt from scratch

Definitely a one piece custom bolt made just for our application. Uses the standard remington firing pin assembly from the bolt your rifle comes with. It is very easy to sell your CF capable bolt to recoup a lot of the cost of this new bolt, it will be a nice addition to the SML world.

That is one beautiful piece of art! Love the advancement going on with you guys!
Not to start a pi$$in' contest, just a question: Is there a reason you didn't just go with a bolt head conversion instead of the whole bolt?

There was no easy way to do a conversion in my opinion. Anything that the do it yourselfer could add would need a new firing pin or an extension of some kind which adds to the complexity and price. I think when the price is revealed you will see that this is a economical way to go.

If the bolt head popped off the Remington bolt like the Savage bolt it would be simple and would have already been done years ago. Cole has a good deal here.
