I have acces to a 35 Remington for my contender but I am curious as to whether a 30-30 would be as recoil heavy. I like the idea of readily available ammo for the 30-30 but would have to buy one. I have a 41 mag also but wanting something with possibly longer shots. What do you guys think?

It's been 15+ years since I shot one, and I am a large framed man. I would not say the 30-30 it is pleasant to shoot a lot, but it's managable. It's soft compared to the 500 SW in contender frame pushing 400 grain bullets.

I am an avid single shot handgun user. Now all Encores, but use to be into Contenders. The 30-30 has much more potential, especially if you reload. I used the 35 Rem and it was OK, but would say 125yd was it before running out of gas. Factory loads at the time though. Mine was a ported 12in. Recoil was nothing to me, but I use/did 30-06, 308, 7-08, 260, 257, 243, 454 Casull in my Encores. Now a 300yd shot is not only possible, but regular and deadly. Lots of fun and almost always accurate with little effort.

Anyone seen any Remington .35 Rem. 200gr. Corelokt ammo or Remington 200gr. Corelokt bullets out there in the last 6 months ? ? .30-30 ammo is much easier to find as are the components and pointed bullets may be used in a single shot pistol . JMO Chris

I have noticed there is not much 35 ammo out there. I do have alot of brass so I can reload but not sure I want to yet.
