ok I want to build a smokeless 700 platform ml
I am a marine that cant stand to only be able to shoot 200 yards. I live in iowa and have five people that are waiting to see what I come up with and if they like they will have me build them one. I need advice on how to go about doing this. I would love to visit someone that is doing a build or a smith that would be willing to teach in iowa
the gun im wanting to build .smokeless .sabot less preferred "need advise on also" .700 action .would love .45 acp ignition but could be talked into 209

Talk to Jeff Hankins if you want the ignition system you saying his is the closest thing out there and it's probably the best system period. Find a good sa 700 and he can get you started. Sounds to me like you will want a Brux or Krieger barrel. A 2n1 die.
Actually if you talk to Jeff he'll have everything you'll need. There are other builders out there but from your list he's probably best suited. Good luck

I wasn't aware there were any MCB or MCAS in Iowa. Luke, owner of Arrowhead Sporting Goods, is located in IA and might be willing to work with you on a 700ML build. As for the LRM ignition, Hankins is the only real game in town right now.

Dave d has a cf plug that uses 45acp brass. Sounds like just what you're looking for. Contact Luke for more info.

If you are looking to go with a Remington 700 action and not a 700ml action Hankins Custom Rifles is where you want to start.

ok thank you I will be calling jeff. I am wanting to do as much of this build as I can. for what I have read everyone uses the 700ml action but switch the bolt or swap it to use the 209 primers but to use the casings like the new ultimate ml that Remington just came out with wouldn't you use a 700 in 45 cal? as long as its reliable and can shoot well to 500 I don't care if its a 209 gun. def swap out barrel to .45 cal when I order the barrel what do I need to full form?

Ah, nutz, that's quite a distance. I used to live in Atlantic and that no doubt would be closer, but won't help now. I think all the 700CF actions are using one type or another of the cut-down casing systems. Seems like Sav 110 type actions can be made to use either type of primer. All the 700ML actions are using the Savage breech plug which uses 209 primers (that I'm aware of). The Savage 10MLII can be made to use either type of primer. Break open actions can be made to use either type of primer, but I don't know about them being a 500yd rifle. Quite a few options out there.

The hardest thing to come up with is a 700ml or 700mls action. You can get just about everything else from Luke at smokelessmz.com.
To FF you will need a press, lube along with sizing dies. Some guys use an arbor press, others use a Rockchucker Supreme. Luke sells Swinglock dies and Jeff Hankins sells a combination set for both smooth and full formed sizing. Luke has posted a video on FF sizing.
Spend some time reading older posts on builds. Use the search function to narrow you searches. There is an abundance of info buried in these threads.
