I also have a Shilen 1:14 on a Ruger #1 that was bought from a member I'm very happy with the barrel it is by far the most consistant barrel I have top to bottom and shoots well. I don't want to shorten the barrel any more or I would have a combination die made for it. If some one has a drop from a Shilen 1:14 45 cal. that they would be willing to part with I would be interested. Pretty sure that was mine and it was a shooter. Me and Dave and Kerry ordered them at the same time. No problems with shilen. I tried to get them to make a prefit along time ago and it just never happened. Glad to see cole offer these out.

How soon could we see a pic of one of these barrels? I'm very interested.

I'll snap some shots tomorrow if I get a chance. Richard will have his early next week and may be the first to put one of mine in action. They come to me turned and ground, I polish or blast them depending on what the customer wants.

Cole, now that you've received some Shilens, how are they? Are they consistent from end to end like others have stated? What's your take on them, now that you have some in your hands?

The shilens look to be a good barrel for what we are doing. Will they shoot with a kreiger or Brux? I don't know yet but I'm betting they exceed my expectations for a SML barrel. The barrel I sent to Richard was the most consistent barrel from end to end that I've ever pushed a bullet down. Now I see why my .375 drives Dave W nuts for inconsist bore.

The Shilen spoiled me for sure! May have no affect on accuracy but I prefer how the Shilen felt when pushing a bullet down the bore to the others I have shot. Richard will give a good unbiased report when he gets the barrel. I suspect it will not be the last you see on the board.

I am a little surprised that people question the quality of a Shilen barrel. They are head and shoulders above a Mac or Pac barrel. That is my two cents. Go to a real rifle match 600--1000 yards you won't see any Mac barrels there and I have never seen a Pacnor barrel at a 1000yard match in 15 years.
A Shilen standard match grade barrel will do everything you could possibly need for a ML. I don't think spending the extra money on a hand lapped match select would be worth while. And maybe a lapped barrel my not be good for accuracy if you use a bore rider bullet. Maybe a full form bullet might benefit but I doubt it.

The bore on the Shilen I just received from Cole was a snug .4500 from the muzzle to the breech. Not a whisker of difference (pressure) going down a clean bore. It will make someone a good shooter when I am done. I am still looking forward to the Brux which Luke says is about a month out. Thanks guys! Richard

Couldn't wait..................Put the new Shilen on today and will shoot it Monday. Had to modify the bedding under the barrel as the Shilen is a tad fatter. The forthcoming Brux is going on my new build which will be on a SS action in a Boyds Pro Varmint stock. Hopefully I can get some good comparison information between the two since they will both be new. Richard
