Would this gun shoot anywhere near the accuracy of SML's with 1:20 twist? I think this one is 1:30 twist? I would shoot sabotless I hope anyway. Anyone have experience with this gun? Bare primer also.

Sorry not Extreme, have the Elite in 45 with 1:30 twist. I would think the Extreme would shoot just as good as the Elite. I tried sabotless in mine with 250gr Barnes TEZ's, shot ok, still may play with sabotless in the future. 100yds, 120gr BH209, 200gr SST, Harvester smooth blue sabot, shoot great Barnes 195gr Expanders shoot very good also but haven't been quite as consistently accurate as the SST's

200 sst and 195 will be your best options. Down side of light 45 is light bullet will lose energy very quick so real world whitetail range is about160-170 yards. Sabotless you will have to stay with light45 bullet due to slow twist and bullet will not swell with black powder or sub chamber pressure for good rifling engagement. All this is why most slow twist45 sales dropped. A good50 cal is a better all around gun. Please no smokeless shooting. The bare primer works great with recommended loads and Winchester w209 or federal209a primers

You covered it well bestill.
Those SSTs fly the best / straightest. But the Expanders mean better business when arriving inside the body of deer. So says many who speak at forums like this one. I have both style bullets in my arsenal.
Your opinion of the sabotless represnets what I've read on other similar products...... Federals and Powerbelts, to name two. Each can work wonderfully at times. Just don't push the pedal to the metal with them.
To the thread-starter.... I have never met a Knight that didn't shoot well. Congrats on joining that fraternity and soon you will have the right powder/load combo all figured out.

I cannot speak to the Knight but I have a 1 in 28 barrel in .45 caliber that shot sabotless quite well but for ease I switched to sabots and the 195 barnes and 200 SSTs.

I have a Match Grade Machine 28" 1:28 twist Encore barrel that shoots great sabotless with 250 and 275 BE's.

The two 1/28" twist Bergara barreled 45's I had, shot absolutely fantastic sabotless with all the .452 Hornady SST'S/FTX's. Especially the 250 and 300 gr. No knurling, just a duplex 3f777/BH209 and a .030 veggie wad and shove them down, ignited by a fed 209a primer. Shot sub moa 100 yard groups day in and day out, usually bug holes if I did my part. I shot a doe at a laser range finded 307 yards with the 28" Winchester Apex .45 with this combo. I wouldn't write off that your gun will not shoot sabotless until you do alot of testing yourself to prove if it will or if it will not. I shot a ton of sabotless loads with my BP 45's testing and trying, eventually I ended up finding some great shooting loads. Every gun is different, never count one in and never count one out until you try. JMO

The Accura V2 .45 was an absolute tack driver off the bench sabotless, I didn't have it long enough to do much long range testing or hunting, but at 100 yards it would drive em..BH209,any .452 SST/FTX, .030 veggie wad and a fed 209a. I owned the Winchester Apex .45 longer so it got more range and hunting time, but it shot sabotless great as well.

Bestill: It is a Brux barrel with the .452 250 grain SSTs. It is mated to the Savage ML action. The bullets had to be reduced in size for proper barrel fit.

The reason I asked is there is a nice Knight disc rifle on Gunbroker and it said it was an extreme but I emailed the lister and he said it takes the original orange discs. I am not sure it is what I want. The barrel does not say extreme on it either from the pics that are on there. I think I may just get a 50 caliber since there are more of them available and seem to be lots of ammo for the too. I want to build a smokeless just not sure the funds are there to do it. I am thinking a 50 caliber disc extreme will get my performance I want and not break my bank so to say either. Thank you guys as usual for the replies. I appreciate the knowledge for sure that you are sharing.

Consider a cva apex 50ml Then you could buy a 45/70 Barrel for sml conversion or start with45/70 conversion very economical and quality gun.

Can you read what it says there.... in full?

Most people do consider the 50 cal the more versatile of the two calibers. But for deer hunting I really do like the 45 cal. When I am using my 45 1-30 Extreme, I normally shoot the 40x200 gr. Bloodline driven with 120 grains of T7-2f. That bullet is deadly out to 200 yards. I do have a friend in southern Idaho he shoots a new 45 cal. Mountaineer (1-30) and he shoots PR 260 gr. lead conical from his with outstanding accuracy.

I own the Mountaineer 45 1 in 30, and shoot the 200 grain bloodline in front of 90 grained of BlackHorn 209. The groups are all sub MOA. The 185 Bloodline shoots as well but I like a little heavier bullet. That gun also likes the 200 grain sst in front of 110 grains of BH-209. My plan is to shoot some sabot less bullets this summer.

You might find out what the serial # is. A 45cal orange disc with low serial number could be a 1-20 twist. Which shoot sabot less very well. It can be converted to another breech plug if you prefer.
