Hello all. I've been off and on this forum reading and reading. Trying to gather all the info I can from these pages. And have a simple question, what would you suggest to be the simplest setup one could go with to begin with sml? I'm thinking about picking up a rem 700 ml pretty quick. Thank you

Are you looking for simplest to set up or to shoot? The rems will do anything you ask them to once out together but it's easier to put a savage together if you don't have all the tools to start with.

Well I guess I should have mentioned easiest to get to shoot. I know the savages are easier to convert but I'm a remington guy. I'm just wanting to dip into the smokeless realm. I've been around muzzle loaders quite a bit and am an avid reloaded and just wanting to try something different.

I've never ever had a smokeless load NOT go bang. I've used single and duplex loads in warm and cold weather...cold for where I live that is...35 degrees.

My vote would be to screw a mcgowen on it. Get it from Luke and see if he will try a 275mh in it before he ships it. He will let you know if you need to get a smooth sizing die at that time.

I like the .451 Barnes 290gr TEZ all copper bullets and a lubed wad in my 45 McGowen no sizing needed just load them.
