Can any of you guys hive me a idea on the difference in felt recoil between a 195 Saboted at 2750 fps and a 250 to 275 grain bullet sabotless at close to same speed.? My gun shoots great Saboted and fits my needs well... But as many of you know we're always searching for something better. Thanks Tim

My RemPac #7 contour is much heavier and more comfortable than my SavPac with #7 contour barrel. That being said, the recoil is fine with either load you stated because I use the heavier load in the heavier gun! It is a very powerful push that gets your attention but not bad. There is a big difference between the two though.

Maybe I should just buy a .40 barrel and shoot the .195 sabotless;)

My daughter likes the 195 to 200 grain bullets much better than 300. She is not really recoil sensitive but does remember her eye hit with the heavier combos. I would say less recoil but cannot say how much. I like my .40 well enough but IF I was get another barrel I would more quickly go with a .45 because I could shoot that sabotless or with .40 and sabots. Just more choices and more States permit the .45 use. Just saying.

I would guess 20-30 percent more recoil.

I've got two .45's and two 50's. Are you saying I don't need another rifle? Hahaha

Google recoil calculator, think there a couple out there that will calculate recoil when you fill in the catagories. JMO The 200gr bullets are much more pleasant to shoot.

There is a difference ,but you can add a brake and tone the recoil down some,But you must wear earplugs....I was very surprised how much of a kick my remmac .458 kicked with 70gns h4198 with a 275be compared to a 200sst 60gns h4198....

Maybe I should just buy a .40 barrel and shoot the .195 sabotless;) Or the 200 SST's or the 240 CEB'S. . The recoil is no comparison to a 45 pushing a 275 around 2700... The 40's are a dream to shoot. JMO

"The 40's are a dream to shoot." But will they take a Kodiak Brown?? Seriously, in our attempts to get the B.C. up as well as comply with state regulations with the 45 calibers, we are WAAAAYYY overpowered for deer. Really doubt if a deer can tell the difference between a well-placed shot with a .40 or a .45, whether it be a 195gr bullet or a 310gr bullet. The APB most certainly will get out there further with much more fpe left, but for 100-200yd yardage shots (and less) that most deer are shot.........not much difference at all.

Haha you must have been talking to panhandle. He's always saying our guns are way over kill for what we are using them for. However man they kill sum deer! These guns scare people at the range I go too. It's fun just watching them scare off! If you're wanting to shoot 40 cal bullets in my opinion best thing to do is get a 40 call barrel and do away with sabot way less frustration.
