Alright guys I'm about to give in and say I'm going without a deer this year... Gonna try a couple more times with a bow and mz but it's looking slim to none. This will mark the first time in the last 14yrs that I have not donated a deer to hunters feeding the hungry. Got me a little bummed so this is what I'm doing to pay it back.
Starting January 1, 2015 Anyone that harvests a deer or similar animal and donates the entire animal to hunters feeding the hungry or whatever it is called in your area. Please let me know and I will enter you into a drawing that will take place on December 31, 2015. This will cover a good majority of all available seasons for next year. The winner will receive a new SML build of their choice, parts not to exceed $1500, I will supply the labor for the build. I will contact the winner and get all your specifics for your new rifle. One entry per person, multiple HUNTERS per household will be permitted. Any legal method of hunting will be more than acceptable.
I am unsure if there is a way to authenticate the donation to your charity but I would hope I can trust that no one here will cheat on a charitable contribution. Maybe at least a picture of you with the animal after harvest would be a good idea. If someone has any ideas on how to better preserve fairness on this please let me know. I know that December 31, 2015 is a long way off but this will let guys prepare and I'm sure it will make sure you guys remind me to do it next year. Thanks to all and please get out there and help others who may be in need. Please be honest with this one guys! Merry Christmas guys!

Awesome idea. While I don't usually donate to share the harvest(our program in mo) opting to give deer to friends and family directly I know and agree with the spirit of this.

Cole
I'm in! I usually donate 2-5 per year. I use my SML in our Oct season. Have some farmer friends who get DMAP tags and only allow me to doe hunt. Our local deer processor gives me a receipt when I donate. He gives to both Hunters Sharing the Harvest and FHFH. Thanks for an awesome opportunity!

Dont feel bad myers where i hunt in va i have actually given up and i really hate to do that. But i started with bow in early october then switched to muzzle loader season and now to regular gun season and have not seen the first deer to kill. I have not even seen a deer that was to far to shoot. I even went out and bought a license last week so i could hunt with the local hunt club that uses 15-20 beagles and they are struggling this year to kill deer. My wife saw an article about how va has already noticed a big drop in deer checked in compared to last year. I try to put away 2-3 deer in freezer but thats not going to happen this year i will have to catch you next year on your offer. Thats a good thing to do to try and help out hunters for the hungry.

Sounds good Cole. I've got till the end of Feb. '15 in Arkansas to kill one with a bow then the rest of next season. If I do, and I will, I'll donate the meat, get documentation and enter in your lottery.
Thanks

Mr. Myers, I have yet to meet you in person, but it sounds like you're the type of guy that we would all be proud to call 'friend.' Thank you for your generous offer. In 22 years of deer hunting, I just donated my first ever deer to our Hoosiers Helping the Hungry program two weeks ago. I will gladly donate another in your honor next fall, should the good Lord provide the harvest.

This is an incredible gesture of generosity on your part Cole. The lucky winner will get a high quality build from a guy that goes above and beyond to make the customer happy! We are lucky to be in the prescence of people like yourself Cole, and all the generous people who frequent and contribute to this board. Thanks Cole for the oppurtunity and to everyone else that makes this board such a great place to be a part of! Happy Holidays to all!

This is an awesome gesture, especially more so around Christmas as so many people are still suffering from the Great Recession. My Amish butcher is a participant in the PA donation program. I pay $15 to cover costs of paper and handling & he returns a receipt for the donated deer. Good deal all around. Have killed two so far, one for myself and one for a buddy just getting over back surgery who won't hunt this year. Next one will go to the program so count me in. SP

Great drawing Cole. What if I shoot an Axis deer during the March 2015 season? What if I shoot an elk in January 2015 using a ranchers depredation permit in Utah? What if the group I donate the deer to is mostly large hungry dogs? Wait, that deer meat is too good to give away. What if I shot them some goats?

Cowhunter, any animal harvested during the 2015 calander year and donated will be good enough for entry. A donation to a bunch of slimey lawyers St. Patricks day party does not count though.... Unfortunately any animal in poor enough shape for you to get close enough to probably shouldn't be donated anyways.

I think you should be willing to eat it yourself before it counts for a charity donation. None of those hind-quarter shot deer with the straps removed that Fishawk donates, or the head shot and left in the field for two days like Hankins gets. Maybe I can shoot an alligator when I come to gather country --Kentucky--for the next shoot. Are gators tasty?

I'm in. Local churches have a food distribution program and I donate game and fish regularly to them through our church sportsmans ministry. They also take most any fish or game so long as it is butchered, packaged and properly labeled according to DGIF regs for donating. Heck, Besides deer I've given them geese and fish and some of my abundant garden produce. I'll send you some photos and etc... for documentation. Great program idea. Merry Christmas to all! 10 ga
