This thread may be relevant to the thread about temp. sensitivity.
Went out today and shot 3 different loads. All with my break open H&R 45/70 26" Douglas barrel 1:22 twist. Savage BP w/040 bushing (split and sleeved)
Weather: Sunny light variable winds 45-50 degrees.
All loads sabotless at 100 meters
1st load: 5 shots. 250FTX 10/50 IMR4759/IMR4198 Bullets sized with easy fit. .060 veg. wad
Shots 1,2,3 shown below...shots 4 and 5 did not even hit the board, so I don't know what's up with that
This is a book load and I think it will show promise with more testing and practice. Maybe different bullets and load combos.
2nd load:
5 shots 275BE 70GR IMR4198 .060 veg. wad. Bullets sized easy fit.
1st two shots 3.5 inches low which was strange because a month ago, using the same set up (but warmer weather) I was dead center at 100 meters.
Cranked up the turret 12 clicks and shots 3, 4 and 5 were looking good. Slightly low but consistent. Parkers aren't even fun. Recoil is not user friendly.
Shot in the upper left hand corner explained below
3rd load:
3 shots 300SST 38GR SR4759 .060 veg. wad. Bullets sized easy fit.
These 3 shots were all over the board. I'm not sure what the deal was. Maybe not enough powder to get the bullets to engage the rifling's. They were obviously tumbling when they left the barrel. Didn't shoot anymore of this, didn't want to waste powder and bullets
The recoil was very manageable which was nice.
Open to comments and observations.

Definitely not enough powder on the last one. On that first load, I hope your 4198/4759 was a typo as putting them down the bore in that order will definitely get you a lower velocity. Richard
