So I'm thinking about upgrading my spotting scope but $800 will be my limit and to tell you the truth I really shouldn't spend that much. So at the moment I have a redfield rampage 20-60x60 spotter works good out to 40 power and after that really pretty much useless. I'm looking at the vortex razor 11-33x50 or the viper 15-45x65 but not sure if there would be any difference in the two other than power. To me the razor would be the better scope but then you have the viper that goes to 45 power but again would it be usable after 40 power. The razor I thought was suppose to be the top of the line spotter then viper. Just don't understand if one would be better than the other. Can't find any reviews comparing them. Wish I could just buy both.

My brother has a Viper 15-45X65 and is very happy with it for the money. We have used it at 500yds shooting cardboard with the MZ's and had no problems seeing the hits. I have a Leupold Gold Ring HD 12-40X60 and it's a bit clearer. But retail money to money, not sure if it's worth the difference. I didn't pay retail and so I am very happy. Anyway, we have glassed deer at 3/4 of a mile and had no problems deciding if it was one we want to go after. The Viper IMO is worth the money for what you get. Can't help on the Razor, sorry. Doubt you will be disappointed with either but might be a little power short on the Razor. Good luck. Jr
