well the disease has got the better of me once again, this time its a center fire .45 The beginning of Camo Loco the donor gun: a new SS SPS in .243 I will use the action and the bottom metal and sell the bolt, barrel and trigger I already have a new jewell and the camo Mcmillan HTG along with the .250 Holland lug A new PT&G fluted one peice bolt with a mini M-16 extractor and 12 degree sweep handle is on order Jeff has a Brux ordered and it will be here some day, it will get his plug and carriers. I plan to do a brake and cap (tac brake) along with black Teflon when its all put together before bedding this will likely be the last .45 I do for myself and hopefully it will shoot well enough that I will never want to put it up for adoption. Why the name Camo Loco??? well it has a camo stock and my wife tells me Im Loco (actually that's a nice way to put it) so it seems like a good fit. Specs: 26" 20 twist Brux .458 interrupted flute 1.250 for 6" straight to .800 @ 26" Harrells 4 port brake and cap Holland .250 lug PT&G bolt w/ aluminum shroud and firing pin Jewell trigger Mcmillan HTG molded camo with pillars Farrell aluminum base TPS aluminum rings Zeiss 5x25x50 conquest HD for now I plan to do updated progress with pics as it gets put together I will likely do a bedding tutorial as well with pics, some might be interested, if not I can bore you with hillbill speak......

Looks like a great build is coming again!
I'll be watching the bedding pictures and can't wait.
Do you do just glass bed the action or both action and pillar?

I bed in the pillars along with the bedding, it will have my not so famous storage compartment under the action. I will tell what secrets I have learned over the years about a decent bedding procedure as I plan to semi retire from building these things soon, someone else can do it...LOL
yes Im Loco, take a new gun apart and toss the stock in the trash but hey, that's all its good for. anyone need an X mark? I already have several.
I hope Loco will redeem me in the spring shoot but Im sure the Jeffs and others have other ideas, will be a blast trying though..

That will make for an awesome rig. I look forward to seeing it completed. If you truly give up the gun building I will do bedding jobs if guys need them. They might not be as pretty as yours but mine aren't ugly and they shoot.

Should be a sweet rig when you are done. Fwiw I sold a 22-250 pencil barrel on eBay for $180 about a month ago so for whatever reason you might catch a premium selling it there. Really brings the action price down if you got a decent deal on it to start. I think the stock sold for $40.

a friend has decided he wants the barrel but I will likely toss the stock. the new trigger is actually pretty good, I might keep this one..
