Had a chance to follow up Saturdays poor shooting and have some info i believe is important. This spring we were shooting327 match hunters with1-22 twist gun which has stabilty factor of 1.5 and shoot very well past 200 yds to 500 yds but groups were not what i wanted at 50 and 100. So we switched to ballistic extreme300 for fall shoot and only did 100 yd testing that was outstanding. So Saturday started competition with awesome50 and 100 yd targets then200 and beyond was a struggle. So came home pretty down. Did alot of thinking and talking to board members about results. Ran some stability calculations and ballistic extreme has sg of 3.9 which is way to high. So bullet stabilizes quick and produced awesome50 and 100 yd groups but also made a very rigid bullet causing bullet to fly nose up then resulted in excessive yawing and groups at 200 plus suffered severely.
So today we regrouped and shot ballistic extreme at 50 and 100 with sub moa results then switched to 327 mh with moa results out to 500 yds . Upset with Saturday shoot but learned alot and that will be beneficial
Has anybody pushed ballistic extremes out to 300 ,400 500 yds and what was results compared to match hunter.. Imo ballistic extreme is awesome bullet for under200 yds then match hunter200 and beyond?

Harley did a lot of long range work with the BE sabotless in his .45 way back when. You should be able to find a lot of posts from him both here and at the old Dougs board. He was one of the first to try the swing lock smooth adjustable die. I believe he held MOA or better out to 500 yds with the BE but it's been a while.
Dave W would also be a great resource here, I believe. Your BE load may simply need some tweaking to get it to do what you want at long range.

I ran stability calculations on 300 ballistic extreme with1-20 twist its up to like 4.5. Seems extremely High for short bullet design

a few yrs ago i took the 275 be out to 500yds,they were great in near perfect conditions holding moa & less....but with wind you had to be on your best game.
since i have dabbled w/275,300 & 327mh's for the long game out to near 800yds. here the 327mh is the king holding .8-.9 moa even in winds @35 mph @ long distance's. the pacnor was a 1/22 twist sized smooth die
with a little tinkering the 327mh can group .5moa or less @ 100 & 200yds ime.
hope this helps!

No experience with any of the newer design BE's, my stockpile is of the older version 275 BE's which will hold approx. .5 MOA out to 250yds, furthest I can shoot. Harley took the older version 275 BE out to 500yds.

I ran the SG stabilization numbers on Berger's website .458 2800 fps 1 in 22" twist barrel 1500 ft elev.
275 Match Hunter SG 1.81 300 Match Hunter SG 1.70 325 Match Hunter SG 1.56
Is this correct?

Bestill: I do not know the Friendship rules, but can you mix and "match"? By that I mean shoot the BE at 100 and 200 and the MH at the longer ranges.
