Does anyone have any thoughts on these? I was looking at the 1-4 x 24 v-brite. Do you think it would hold up to a shotgun or kids load on a muzzle loader?

I have the ii 4-12x44 bdc reticle. I'm shooting it on a sml around 2800 250sst. Talking to vortex they were not sure it would hold up however said it is suppose too. Still haven't had a chance to try it fully but working in it now. As far as shot gun or ml it should work according to vortex.
If mine doesn't hold up I'll send it back have them replace it and either upgrade the scope threw vortex or sell the replacement.
I would think the one your looking at will work. I'd call vortex very people friendly and answer any questions you have.

My brothers each HAD a 4-12X50 Crossfire II on their sabotless guns. Both got sent back to Vortex and promptly got replacements. The warranty and customer service is second to none so don't think I am Vortex basher. I have a Viper PST on my MZ and I love it. That being said, I would not put anything less than a Viper on a smokeless or shotgun. Both of the Crossfires II tubes crushed with Warne steel rings. After about 10-12 shots you would have to tighten the rings a little. When we took them off the tube was bulged on both sides of the rings. Again, they had replacement scopes in a week. Both are putting a 4-16X50 Viper HS LR on their guns. I think the Crossfire II would be a great scope for a lower recoil gun and probably would hold up on a kids load MZ. Very clear and worth the money.

I just took off the Crossfire ii and replaced it with a Nikon Prostaff 5 XR 3.5-14x40 way better scope. The crossfire ii seemed to be holding up after two range sessions however when I took it off I did notice one of the ring screws were loose. However hard saying because it only had 15 inch pounds torqued down and I had already loosened one screw so it could have been loose cause of that. Vortex recommended 14 lbs to 15 lbs torque on the rings. Not sure what other companies recommend just what vortex recommended.

I was wanting the 1-4 for the shotgun that my boy is going to use on his bear hunt this Sept. I used a 3-9 on my gun when I went and wished I had had a lower powered scope.

If you want to keep it low cost, I'd look at the Vortex Diamondback. Big jump in quality from the crossfire line, and they have the 1.75 - 5. Even with BDC reticle, you're still under $200. Only issues is slightly tight eye relief, but with the low mag, you're still 3.5" - 3.7"

It is going to be used on a black bear hunt and my 14 yr old is going to be using it. I remember from mine hunt that it was a little hard to see the crosshairs when aiming at the bear. That is why I was looking at the V-brite. It will be on a 20 gauge ultra slug hunter.
