Left my place at 2:30am and made the 7 hour trip to Panhandles place. Walked in the front door around 9 and headed out hunting around 10. Keep in mind I lost an hour on my trip going from central time to mountain time. Started looking for deer and found a group of does around 3 and just about to leave we started seeing bucks coming over the hill. After that it was game on and the sneak was on. I got with in 330 yards and had a strong wind left to right. Couldn't make a good shot and the deer on the top of the hill scattered from movement. After they left I noticed another group lower working around the base of the hill. Sneak number two was on and got with in 200 yards. This guy came over the hill and was quartering to me and time was running out of daylight. Decided to hit the front shoulder with the 250sst 12/55 4759/4198 and the deer only moved three feet straight to the ground! He didn't move didnt' twitch! DRT! This is my first mulie and hope it isn't my last! What a great hunt and I owe it all to Panhandle, thanks Panhandle! Thanks to everyone who helped me get my gun going and shooting you are all a great bunch of people! Thanks everyone for all your help! RR Optima Elite 45/70 Slufoot Conversion 250 SST Lubed Wad (slightly dried out) 12/55 4759/4198 Win 209 (Complete pass thru with the 250sst)

I was able to watch this hickoreeaa sneak unfold.. RR made a great stalk and made a great shot... I was back about 800 yds taking it all in...The 250 FTX is proving to be real deer killer. Zen

I really enjoyed the story RR, thanks for sharing it with us. That is a very nice buck and a very good shot in the windy conditions you described. It sure does look cold where you are.
GOOD SHOOTING! Slufoot

Way to go. Great buck and nice shooting. I like the gun too. Slufoot's conversions are piling them up this year. Merry Christmas. Cory
