Very slow week for me, much less deer than I am used to seeing and I was out daylight to dark everyday without breaks. The warn weather wasn't helping anything either. Thursday I got into my blind at 6:40 and didn't see a single deer all day until 4:40. It poured rain all day. 90 yards, Savage Pacnor, 62 gr. N-120, 195 Barnes

No he ran about 60-70 yards.
Shot placement not great or I should say shot location options.
When I first saw him he was slipping through some thick briars about 75 yds away. He caught me moving (opening a window on the blind) and spooked and stopped at 90 yards to look back, he wasn't sure what he had seen and the wind was perfect, that was why I was in this blind. I was in very thick brushy woods, late evening, low light and raining like heck. Where he stopped there was a very small window exposing only the back of his vitals. There was a 4-6" tree covering his shoulder and behind for a couple of inches. I moved the crosshair 3" right of the tree to be safe and knew I still would take out lungs. I hit where I aimed but the deer was angled towards me and I really couldn't tell it in the amount of time I had to shoot or not shoot. I did take out the entry side lung and the liver and exit through the guts on the off side. Still a quick kill just made gutting and the cleanup afterwards a little more work.
In the blind I was hunting in yesterday the extra range the savage provides for me is of no real value. It is so thick in there. There are no shots over 125 yds and even then you really have to look hard to find holes to shoot through. What is does offer in that blind however is the extreme confidence that the bullet is going to go where I want it go everytime. No need to range any shots just put the crosshair there and squeeze it off. I have 7 blinds on the property and the extended range capability comes into play on most of those.

Nice job Lundy. Way to hang tough. Being able to hit small holes with these guns is great.
