My daughter got a yearling at 125 yards with the 195 Barnes in the .45. I was happy for her as she seldom gets a chance to hunt with her job and her distance from the farm. She has gotten 6 deer in 6 years and she likes to give away some of the deer sticks. She saw a decent buck just after opening (30 minutes before sunrise) but the crosshairs could not be seen against the buck so she wisely did not attempt a shot. I told her it would just be bigger next year.

Thanks all. I actually get more satisfaction when she gets a deer than I do.

Jims,
You are correct bout that! When my youngest son was 11 yrs old & we took our gun safety course so he could hunt, he got a mature doe that fall during youth season. That doe was like shootin a Booner for me & we got to spend time in the stand together, butcher deer & make jerky/steaks/sausage--What a Deal!!

Jims, glad your daughter got a chance to hunt and that she made a good shot and got one. Funny as how we get older we get more of a kick out of the successes of others that are close to us than if we got the deer ourselves. I loaned one of my Rem-pacs to a buddy who had not killed a deer in several years. He got one and it was a very happy occasion for all of us.
